CONTEMPORARY PAINTER · NOBLESVILLE / FISHERS, INDIANA
Paint laid down
until the colour
begins to speak.
Bobbi K. Samples paints flowers, fields, and living things — built out of layered colour rather than outline, and finished only when the surface settles.

Color in Silence
Color in Silence is a series of eight paintings, each surrendered to one colour and to the quiet it keeps. The works are meant to be met in sequence — green, teal, purple, copper, yellow, red, pink, blue — so that the shift from one to the next is felt rather than explained.
About
In the studio
Working from Noblesville, Indiana, Bobbi paints from close observation and long looking. A canvas is turned, reworked, and set aside more than once before it is finished.

A small number of commissions are taken each year, worked through in conversation from first idea to finished canvas.
